When the fertilized egg is unable to implant in the uerus and starts developing outside the uterine cavity it is known as ectopic pregnancy. The most common site of an ectopic pregnancy is the fallopian tube, but it can also occur at other sites such as the abdominal cavity, ovary etc. This is a very dangerous condition for the mother and medical advice must be sought immediately in case of symptoms such as bleeding per vaginum or pain in the lower abdomen during early pregnancy or right after you have missed your periods.
